From your computer to your private cloud

1. Install the Windows .exe, open the Linux AppImage, or install the .deb package on Debian / Ubuntu.
2. Sign in by email and unlock your vault with your vault password. Open the email link in the desktop app, or paste that link into the app if your system does not open it automatically.
3. Choose a folder to sync automatically, or select individual files to upload. File contents, names and synced folder paths are encrypted on your device before upload.
4. Open the desktop app or web vault to download and decrypt your files on your device.

The current Windows installer is unsigned. On Linux, mark the AppImage as executable; AppImage/FUSE support and a working Chromium sandbox are required. If your system cannot launch it, you can use the web vault.

Folder syncing uploads new and changed files and downloads cloud changes automatically while the app is open and your vault is unlocked, including when minimized. Sync pauses when you lock or close the app and retries after connection failures. Automatic idle-lock still applies unless you enable “Keep vault unlocked while folder sync is enabled” in the app. Conflicting edits are kept as separate copies. Deleting a file in one place does not automatically delete the other copy; retained cloud versions count toward storage. Files in your local sync folder are ordinary decrypted files.

The desktop app uses your cloud storage plan. Internet access is needed for cloud transfers. Keep your vault password safe; a forgotten vault password cannot be reset.

Need a portable offline package?

The free offline HTML app encrypts and opens .avault packages in your browser. The desktop app connects to your cloud account; offline packages are a separate option.
