Private by default

Every protection below is on the moment you install. Nothing you browse is sent to Andromeda Aerospace.

SHIELDS

Tracker & ad blocking

Requests to 150+ ad, analytics and fingerprinting networks are cancelled before they leave your computer. The shield shows exactly what was stopped on each page.

HTTPS-ONLY

Encrypted connections

Every address is upgraded to HTTPS. If a site can't do it, you get a clear warning and choose whether to continue.

DNT · GPC

Opt-out signals

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control headers ask every site not to sell or share your data.

COOKIES

Third-party cookies off

Cross-site tracking cookies are stripped. Sign-ins on the sites you actually visit keep working.

KEYCHAIN

Encrypted bookmarks

Bookmarks are sealed with Windows DPAPI or the Linux secret service. Import from Chrome, Edge or Firefox in one click.

INCOGNITO

Nothing left behind

Incognito windows keep everything in memory and wipe it when the window closes. You can also clear cookies or history on every exit.

SEARCH

Your engine

Google by default. Switch to DuckDuckGo, Brave, Startpage, Ecosia, Qwant, Mojeek, Bing, Yahoo or your own URL.

PERMISSIONS

Ask first

Camera, microphone, location and notifications need your approval per site. Scripted pop-ups are blocked unless you clicked.

DESKTOP

Everything you expect

Tabs you can drag, reader view, find in page, downloads manager, zoom, print, developer tools and session restore.

Install guide

Two minutes on either system. Your data is stored only on your computer.

Windows 10 / 11

  1. Download Andromeda-Browser-Setup-1.1.2.exe and open it.
  2. If Windows SmartScreen appears, click More info → Run anyway.
  3. Accept the licence, choose a folder (no admin rights needed) and click Install.
  4. To make it your default browser: menu ⋮ → Settings → System → Make default, then pick Andromeda Browser in Windows Settings.

Portable ZIP: extract, then run Andromeda Browser.exe. Create an empty folder called profile next to it to keep all data inside that folder.

Linux

  1. Meridian OS, Ubuntu, Debian: install the .deb, which adds a menu entry and registers the browser.
    sudo apt install ./andromeda-browser_1.1.2_amd64.deb
  2. Any distro: use the AppImage.
    chmod +x Andromeda-Browser-1.1.2-x86_64.AppImage
    ./Andromeda-Browser-1.1.2-x86_64.AppImage
  3. Set as default: Settings → System → Make default, or xdg-settings set default-web-browser andromeda-browser.desktop.

Verify a download: sha256sum <file> on Linux or Get-FileHash <file> in PowerShell, and compare with the checksum above.

Questions

Why does Windows say "unknown publisher"?

New programs show a SmartScreen notice until they are code-signed and have built up download reputation. The installer is safe to run; check its SHA-256 checksum above if you want to be sure.

Do my Chrome extensions work?

Not in version 1.0. The features most people install extensions for, ad and tracker blocking, are built in.

Can I play Netflix or Disney+?

Not yet. Those services need a DRM module that is licensed separately. YouTube, Twitch and other open video sites play normally.

How do I get updates?

Automatically, like Chrome. The browser checks for new versions in the background, downloads them, verifies their signature and installs them when you restart it — your tabs reopen. Installed copies on Windows update silently; AppImage replaces itself; the .deb asks for your password once. The portable ZIP and tar.gz show a download link instead. You can switch automatic updates off in Settings → About.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your computer: %APPDATA%\Andromeda Browser on Windows and ~/.config/Andromeda Browser on Linux. Delete that folder to remove your data completely.
